Rado r5.5 by Jasper Morrison

This luxury timepiece by Jasper Morrison is a most successful exercise in minimalist design

Rado have been pioneers in the use of high-tech ceramics in watchmaking for over 20 years, exemplifying the best of Swiss craftsmanship.

This wealth of experience has helped the brand produce some of the world’s most iconic watches. Now, welcomed into the fold is the distinctive r5.5 from renowned British designer, Jasper Morrison.

Demonstrating Morrison’s unique approach to design, the watch has been stripped down to its bare elements, providing a timepiece that is both beautiful and functional.

The curved edges of the square case give a distinctive Morrison aesthetic and also give the watch its name, r5.5 – referring to the radius of these curves.

The chronograph models have been reduced to their essential elements – just two counters, date and hands – while the basic models offer even more refinement.

The r5.5 collection is the third stage in Rado’s collaboration with Morrison; the designer previously re-designing the brand’s iconic Ceramica timepiece and watch packaging.

Available in either matt or polished high-tech ceramic, there are 8 models in total – all water-resistant to 30m, hypoallergenic and lightweight.

Look out for the new r5.5 Automatic, coming soon.
