The Life Outside Issue

Introducing the Life Outside issue of Habitus magazine. With life increasingly being absorbed into a digital space, there is never a more important moment to hold something tangible. In this context, the power of nature to have a physiological impact on our sense of wellbeing has never been more important. So how can we cultivate the benefits of the our natural environment in the most intimate of places – our homes? This was the question that helped to bring this issue of Habitus to life.

Ceramic Fruit by Parterre

Inspired by the vibrant colours and fleshy volumes of Brazilian flora Parterre’s collection of ceramic fruit is a distinct and original addition to any interior.

Designed by Selma Calheira, these ripe sculptures offer an organic elegance to any space. With a choice of apples or cherries in luscious greens and reds or more subdued black and white, the works come in sizes ranging from table-top friendly to room centrepiece.

The sculptures are made at the Cores de terra studio on the site of an abandoned cocoa plantation, where Calheira employs over 100 disadvantaged men and women. Calheira’s works have received wide acclaim and been exhibited in Paris, New york and Geneva.
