The Life Outside Issue

Introducing the Life Outside issue of Habitus magazine. With life increasingly being absorbed into a digital space, there is never a more important moment to hold something tangible. In this context, the power of nature to have a physiological impact on our sense of wellbeing has never been more important. So how can we cultivate the benefits of the our natural environment in the most intimate of places – our homes? This was the question that helped to bring this issue of Habitus to life.

Habitus loves… Sofas

As the end of the year approaches, no doubt we’re all looking forward to a good lie down. Well, we’ve got 8 of our favourite sofas/lounges for that much-deserved rest.

Chubby

Designed by:
Helen Kontouris

Why we love it: The name tells you what we love about this lounge. It’s just a little bit chubby in its fine yet solid frame. And with its memory foam and down feathers it invites you to sink in, without becoming sad and saggy over time.

Where you can get it:

Brenno

title

Designed by: Francesco Binfaré for Edra

Why we love it: It feels a bit like it’s melted in the sun, but this beautiful sofa is made of specially treated leather and uses ‘Gellyfoam’ and thick goose down to make it seriously sumptuous.

Where you can get it:

Space Furniture

Shell

title

Designed by: Felix Low

Why we love it: This lounge is beautifully crafted, with a modular function and modular aesthetic. Modern, yet with a nod to classic styles. Perfection.

Where you can get it:

Foundry

Bricks & Mortar

title

Designed by:
Richard Woods Sebastian Wrong for Est. & Sons

Why we love it: It’s like something out of a cartoon, and while it won’t suit everyone’s living room, you can’t argue it’s a lot of fun.

Where you can get it:

Living Edge

Superoblong

title

Designed by: Jasper Morrison for Cappellini

Why we love it: This modular sofa makes it easy to reinvent your living room, with removable covers and that squishy, yet supportive foam that makes lounging a dream.

Where you can get it:

Corporate Culture

MJS Lounge

title

Designed by: Matthew Sheargold

Why we love it: We love the curves of the back cushion juxtaposed with the straight lines of the base. This one also offers a firmer option for more formal living spaces and comes in a range of colours.

Where you can get it:

Zenith

Manhattan Sofa

title

Designed by: Patrick Norguet

Why we love it: This modular sofa is seriously cool. The sleek angular aesthetic is matched only by its versatility. Rearrange it and make it your own.

Where you can get it:

KEZU

Kite

Designed by: Pearson Lloyd

Why we love it: It’s minimalism at its best. While this isn’t the sort of lounge you’ll sink into, it’s the perfect accompaniment to a sleek modern interior, with a range of colours that make it pop.
