The Life Outside Issue

Introducing the Life Outside issue of Habitus magazine. With life increasingly being absorbed into a digital space, there is never a more important moment to hold something tangible. In this context, the power of nature to have a physiological impact on our sense of wellbeing has never been more important. So how can we cultivate the benefits of the our natural environment in the most intimate of places – our homes? This was the question that helped to bring this issue of Habitus to life.

Louise Olsen and Stephen Ormandy, Creative Directors and Co-founders of Dinosaur Designs have created a brand synonymous with luxurious, unique, resin and precious metal jewellery and homewares.

Their pieces are characterised by a warmth and tactility only possible by making each resin piece by hand in their studio. Olsen and Ormandy are constantly inspired by nature. Olsen says: “There is something beautiful about the time things take to evolve and perfect in the natural world”. Inspiration comes from coral clusters, polished river stones and tropical rainforest, and also from the world of art, with some pieces referencing the colour field painting and sculptures of the 20th century.

During their three-decade career designing, Olsen and Ormandy have taken their unique designs around the world and have representation in stores and galleries around the world including Net-A-Porter, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and Bergdorf Goodman to name a few. They have 10 stores in total across Australia, London and New York.
