The bagpipes rang out across Surry Hills on Monday 30 May, sending their eerie notes out into the rain-soaked night. But the music wasn’t coming from one of the many pubs, but from the Japanese Tokonoma Lounge as they celebrated the world of whisky.
Originating from various regions around the world, there was a great mix of whiskies, from Monkey Shoulder, Glenfiddich, Glenmorangie, Ardbeg, Jameson, Chivas, Yamazaki, Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel and Gentleman Jack to the Tasmanian, Sullivan’s Cove.
Each brand had the opportunity to exhibit their products to a targeted, whisky-loving environment.
The crowd of 150 people were able to benefit from personalised and group tasting sessions while enjoying the delectably matched canapés by Toko and Tokonoma Head Chef, Regan Porteous.
Further to the tastings, 9 mouth-watering whisky cocktails were created by Toko and Tokonoma Bar Manager, Benito Drovandi.
