An Unlikely Pairing

Sneaker brand Reebok has partnered with Eames Office to create an inaugural drop of its classic Club C shoe.

Honouring the creative legacy of Ray and Charles Eames, an unlikely collaboration between sneaker company Reebok and the Eames Office will see a limited edition run of monotone Club C’s released online at Reebok.com.au on Friday 15 October.

The collection is a world-first between a footwear brand and the Eames Office, which is now operated by the third generation of the Eames family.

Renowned for designing timeless, yet ground-breaking furniture pieces, the husband-and-wife duo influenced mid-twentieth century design through their innovative and playful pieces. Many classics remain highly covetable and continue to be sold through Herman Miller and Vitra.

In a similar vein, Reebok crafts footwear that shaped a generation. The Club C sneaker offering a heritage silhouette, defined by a lo-fi aesthetic and supreme function; all characteristics that remain today, and unsurprisingly translates into the Eames design philosophy.

The collaboration has seen both Reebok and the Eames Office re-engineer the iconic Club C, making it as similar to the original 1985 release as possible, while also innovating the materials and production processes.

The Reebok x Eames Club C ‘Monotone Pack’ is pure and essential. The design features heritage accents like original size tongue tags, squared-off window boxes, die-cut tooling, classic logos, and a restored internal arch bandage for enhanced fit and comfort.

The arch bears a custom Reebok x Eames print to integrate the partnership at a functional level. Grey soles and woven EAMES tags are subtle accents that speak to the industrial imperatives underlying the output of the Eames Office, while the insole bursts with a colourful triangle print as a tribute to the Eameses’ sublime mastery of detail.

The Reebok x Eames Club C will retail for $180 AUD.
