The Life Outside Issue

Introducing the Life Outside issue of Habitus magazine. With life increasingly being absorbed into a digital space, there is never a more important moment to hold something tangible. In this context, the power of nature to have a physiological impact on our sense of wellbeing has never been more important. So how can we cultivate the benefits of the our natural environment in the most intimate of places – our homes? This was the question that helped to bring this issue of Habitus to life.

Jardan opens its flagship in Brisbane

Jardan’s fresh, new Brisbane Store encapsulates the quintessential Queenslander in unique Jardan style.

New to the Brisbane retail community is Jardan’s latest Flagship Store – a uniquely Queenslander take on the brand, which has moved locations to open in the design-savvy precinct of Fortitude Valley.

Conceived by architect Iva Foschia of IF Architecture, in collaboration with Nick and Mike Garnham of Jardan, the new retail space is careful re-creation of home, rather than store.

The collaborative design team has captured the Jardan aesthetic in every way, offering customers a natural sense of intimacy, and that Jardan-esque flavor of iconic, easy Australian living.

With the showroom, a light colour palette and timber lining boards reflect Jardan’s approach to light, airy, comfortable living. Materiality, too, pays homage to Jardan’s principles of ‘making locally and acting mindfully’ with a series of subtle Queenslander touches such as timber lining boards and plantation shutters.

Installed within the space is an indoor-outdoor living display that celebrates Queensland’s temperate climate and captures the easy transition between inside and out. This is complemented by an open plan kitchen featuring a Victorian Bluestone benchtop and blackbutt joinery.

Jardan’s managing director, Nick Garham is excited about this latest move in Brisbane where Queensland retail and trade customers can experience the brand first-hand. “Our designer Iva Foschia has conceived a store layout that makes you feel instantly at home – as if you could live in it,” Nick says.

“Customers are welcome to visit, wander and enjoy firsthand the Jardan approach to Australian living – beautifully crafted yet always comfortable, curated and stylish yet in an informal and very liveable fashion, and designed for you and your family.”

Ideal for retail customers and designer who are looking to bring their vision for a modern Australian home to life, the Brisbane Flagship store stocks Jardan’s newest and best selling furniture ranges, as well as a curated collection of homewares including bedlinen, blankets, cushions, ceramics, books, art and jewellery. All Jardan designed and produced furniture items carry GECA accreditation.
