The 'Bespoke' Issue

With Guest Editor Yasmine Ghoniem, we are launched headfirst into the world of unique and eclectic design. From architecture to interiors, there is nothing that can’t be enlivened with bespoke interventions. Granted, a stunningly beautiful home can be made by simply shopping for the best, but when the artist’s hand is introduced, some pure magic is possible. Whether it is an artwork or a new upholstery, a built-in component or a mosaic inlay, these gestures, whether bold or subtle, are what make the home unique.

ikepod

Ikepod is a Swiss wristwatch manufacturer, specialising in conceptual timepieces. Ikepod began in 1993, when Oliver Ike spotted the Australian designer Marc Newson in a European publication. Together they completed their first prototype wristwatch called Seaslug and then commenced the launched numerous designs over the ensuing decade.

In 2005, the New York-based entrepreneur, art collector and timepiece aficionado Adam Lindemann, in partnership with Marc Newson, acquired the entire archive of the Swiss Ikepod Company (including the rights to the TM Ikepod and all Marc Newson designs) and began an intensive initiative to launch another company.

nder the aegis of this new New York, U.S.A. based company named IKEPOD NEW YORK, Marc Newson has personally redesigned and updated every detail and created a new collection in precious metals only.
