Illuminating Lighting Designs

An astutely observed gap in the market brought about one of About Space’s continuously best selling lighting designs.

About Space is an Australian owned and operated lighting business that has been in business for more than a decade. In that time it has established itself as a destination for Design Hunters, architects and interior designers alike. With three showrooms across Sydney and Melbourne, About Space has also managed to create a relationship between client and creator.

In fact, this is how the ever-popular 2BY range came into being nearly five years ago. Noting a gap in the market for a pendant light that had a warm natural finish About Space decided to create one for themselves.

The 2BY4 was the original product in the range and was quickly proceeded by the 2BY4 Round. Last year, the Brass/Aluminium finish was added. Today, the full 2BY range comprises the 2BY4 Square, 2BY4 Round, 2BY3 with Brass/Aluminium, 2BY2 Square, and 2BY5 Square.

The pendants are most commonly made from Victorian Ash, but are also available in Walnut or Black Japan Stain, and finished in Beeswax. All timber options are sources locally and PEFC and FSC certified. A small amount a customisation is available – through flexible drop lengths and pendant length ranging up to 3000 millimetres. Being individually manufactured in a local joinery studio, no two lights will ever be the same.
