The Life Outside Issue

Introducing the Life Outside issue of Habitus magazine. With life increasingly being absorbed into a digital space, there is never a more important moment to hold something tangible. In this context, the power of nature to have a physiological impact on our sense of wellbeing has never been more important. So how can we cultivate the benefits of the our natural environment in the most intimate of places – our homes? This was the question that helped to bring this issue of Habitus to life.

Aesop’s new flagship store

Australia

Aesop evokes old world elegance in it’s new Collins Street, Melbourne store.

Discussing the fate of the colonies over cognac and cigars may no longer be possible, but that doesn’t stop us reminiscing about the days when sharply dressed, impeccably mannered gentleman would gather on ‘the club’ to be in the company of their peers.

Aesop’s new Melbourne flagship store indulges our nostalgia with rich, earthy colours and masculine details, complementing the brand’s reputation for refinement and quality. An assertive leather curtain spans the length of the store, providing an inviting, textured cladding to the surface, and the goat hair carpet furthers the space’s luxuriousness.

Angular brass cabinets and blackened steel and copper fixtures complete the store’s mood, witha a mirror bureau serving as both aesthetic centrepiece and a space where clients can learn about and experiment with Aesop’s range of skin, hair and body products.

The store is the company’s 22nd in Australia and is testimony to it’s continued success, and with plans to open new stores this year in Geneva, Paris, London, New York and Tokyo we can expect that success to grow and spread further still.
