The 'Bespoke' Issue

With Guest Editor Yasmine Ghoniem, we are launched headfirst into the world of unique and eclectic design. From architecture to interiors, there is nothing that can’t be enlivened with bespoke interventions. Granted, a stunningly beautiful home can be made by simply shopping for the best, but when the artist’s hand is introduced, some pure magic is possible. Whether it is an artwork or a new upholstery, a built-in component or a mosaic inlay, these gestures, whether bold or subtle, are what make the home unique.

Antipodean summer living at The English Tapware Company

Australia

Participating in The English Tapware Company’s ‘Window’ project, S.T.UDIO Sally Taylor has created a stunning outdoor bathroom in the Woollahra showroom.

In this latest instalment, which happens every three months in The English Tapware Company’s Woollahra store window, Sally Taylor blends quintessential Hamptons style with ‘Aussie beach shack’, celebrating the best of Antipodean summer living – luxurious relaxed bathing in the evening warmth after a glorious day of sun and surf.

Black rough-sawn weatherboards and timber decking contrast with the white framed window and pergola to create a perfect backdrop for the bath and fittings. The classical Perrin & Rowe bath filler and shower in Polished Brass seem to ‘pop off the wall’ and the whole scene is magically lit by the Edison lights hanging above. A surfboard propped against the wall speaks volumes and the Adirondak chair, languid in the corner, invites wet swimsuits and dry champagne.

This traffic-stopping window has been given further embellishment for Christmas by talented Sally Spratt of The Lust List.
