Diamant Hotel Canberra

Australia

A boutique hotel in Australia’s capital has an artistic twist.

The Diamant Hotel Canberra is located on the Lake Burley Griffin, on the doorstep of Canberra’s key cultural, entertainment, sport and commercial facilities. The Diamant is perfectly situated in Canberra’s first true urban village with a cafe, two restaurants, bars, gym, pilates centre and a beauty & hair salon, plus outdoor events during the summer (live music & open air cinema).

The work of architect Fender Katsalidis and interior design house SJB Interiors, this boutique hotel by Eight Hotels Australia is clearly inspired by its surroundings.

When you face the front entrance, a large cantilevered roof commands your attention, as it appears to dissect a white rectangular box, raising the left wall and roof from the ground.

The reception area is an eclectic mix of art and luxury appointments; an eagle resting on a 3-metre-tall chair overlooks a waiting area finished with a purple throw rug, green upholstered high-back lounge chairs and a fireplace adorned with ceiling-high brushed metal panels.

In the bedrooms, high art and a simple palette makes for an exquisite night’s stay; the bed appears to float mid air as the soft linen contrasts with the black base. The silver details of the wall-mounted bed lamps and door handles on the surrounding cupboards prompt an element of surprise.

With its high level of comfort and luxurious sense of style, the Diamant Hotel Canberra offers a captivating, unique place to stay on an Autumnal capital visit.
