A recent installation for the launch of a spring collection injected a new and vibrant aesthetic into the hosting store while resonating with the new products.

To celebrate the launch of their ‘Made in Melbourne’ spring capsule collection, Melbourne fashion brand cylk commissioned sisters Becc and Maddy Sharrock (of Studio Twocan) to create an installation in their Chapel Street store.

The new collection features an exclusive print inspired by natural rock and crystal formations with a rusty colour palette inspired by the scorched Australian landscape. In response to this, Studio Twocan created The Spring Tapestry, a sculptural work of intertwining natural and recycled materials, including untreated Tasmanian oak dowels held together with copper joints. The sisters were inspired by the boutique’s exposed fixtures and rustic textures, with the coarse brick in the store and the use of copper fixtures by interior designers Store Pro and Design DNA guiding the material vernacular of the work.

The project is an example of how an occasional relevant and well executed decorative installation can invigorate a retail space, even one as elegant and pared back as cylk’s.
