The 'Bespoke' Issue

With Guest Editor Yasmine Ghoniem, we are launched headfirst into the world of unique and eclectic design. From architecture to interiors, there is nothing that can’t be enlivened with bespoke interventions. Granted, a stunningly beautiful home can be made by simply shopping for the best, but when the artist’s hand is introduced, some pure magic is possible. Whether it is an artwork or a new upholstery, a built-in component or a mosaic inlay, these gestures, whether bold or subtle, are what make the home unique.

3 Shapes, Multiple Combinations: Jon Goulder’s Glass Lights

Adelaide based Designer Jon Goulder has made a series of hand blown glass lamps; simple, colourful, beautiful.

Inspired by by the master Louis Poulsen, Goulder’s Glass Lights are designed specific to a production process performed by the skilled glass blowers at the Jam Factory Adelaide – where Goulder is the Creative Director of Furniture. Using three simple pieces, the lights are designed to make many shapes and colour combinations depending on the configuration.

While currently the lights are well resolved prototypes, they’re being assessed for production as we speak and in the market place by the middle of this year.
