The 'Bespoke' Issue

With Guest Editor Yasmine Ghoniem, we are launched headfirst into the world of unique and eclectic design. From architecture to interiors, there is nothing that can’t be enlivened with bespoke interventions. Granted, a stunningly beautiful home can be made by simply shopping for the best, but when the artist’s hand is introduced, some pure magic is possible. Whether it is an artwork or a new upholstery, a built-in component or a mosaic inlay, these gestures, whether bold or subtle, are what make the home unique.

A Celebration of Walnut & Oak: Svelto range by ercol

Just the names Walnut and Oak conjure up beautiful images – warm tones, gentle grain and subtle variations of colour. They’re two timbers that need little dressing up, and should be celebrated simply as they are. ercol’s Svelto collection does just that.

The range, which Temperature Design will launch at Melbourne Indesign and was taken to Maison, Milan & ICFF NY by ercol, is a contemporary living collection of oak and walnut furniture that stands out from the crowd. The simple pieces challenge design boundaries, whilst ensuring functionality and quality.

Stackable stools, occasional tables, sofas and arm chairs, storage and shelving make up the range designed by ercol’s in-house design team. Combined with ercol’s skills and heritage in crafting solid wood the ‘Svelto’ was created with understated elegance in mind. Since commencing in 1920, ercol has always had design at the heart of their ethos – design for comfort, design for function, design for beauty.
