Kitchen & Bathroom Issue

Kitchens and bathrooms are, arguably, the most consequential rooms in the home — and almost always the first to be considered. Whether approached through renovation or new build, their design has the power to recalibrate how a home is lived in and experienced. For this issue, our guest editor, Mardi Doherty, principal of Studio Doherty, explores what it truly means to transform these pivotal spaces — and why thoughtful design in kitchens and bathrooms delivers dividends far beyond the purely functional. Her insights both as an architect and as her own client give an open and honest account of the thinking behind creating a home.

Architecture of Faith at MID

Melbourne Indesign and the National Gallery of Victoria are teaming up for a very special guided tour for Up Late. We’re hosting an exclusive preview of the Glenn Murcutt, An Architecture of Faith exhibition at the NGV.

Architecture of Faith is a unique exhibition providing an in-depth exploration of the new Australian Islamic Centre at Hobsons Bay, Melbourne, designed by renowned Australian architect Glenn Murcutt.

MID Ambassador and NGV curator Simone LeAmon will personally walk you through this exciting exploration of the Islamic Centre, which has been designed to define a new architectural language for contemporary Australian Islam, and challenge assumptions of historical architectural typologies and aesthetics.

For the opening weekend of Glenn Murcutt, Architecture of Faith why not indulge in an Up Late exclusive and join Simone LeAmone and co-curator Ewan Mceoin in a special guided tour of the space. Tickets are on sale now!
