The 'Bespoke' Issue

With Guest Editor Yasmine Ghoniem, we are launched headfirst into the world of unique and eclectic design. From architecture to interiors, there is nothing that can’t be enlivened with bespoke interventions. Granted, a stunningly beautiful home can be made by simply shopping for the best, but when the artist’s hand is introduced, some pure magic is possible. Whether it is an artwork or a new upholstery, a built-in component or a mosaic inlay, these gestures, whether bold or subtle, are what make the home unique.

The new Australian creative concept label launches it’s program of collaborations with ex Sneaky Sound System DJ Daimon Downey.

The boutique label aims to produce small collections of highly refined fashion, homeware and design products, inviting artists and designers from around the world to add their creative input to the expanding catalogue.

Bay & Fyfe has just launched it’s first collaboration with Australian-born DJ turned artist Daimon Downey. Downey was part of ARIA winning music group Sneaky Sound System before he picked up the paint brush full time, and the label was drawn to his impressive talent with mix media and use of off-beat colour palettes.

Now his art is taking centre stage for the collection of limited edition silk scarves. The collection entitled ‘Pastel Zoo’ features four icon prints, screen printed onto silk luxe. Each scarf is over a metre in size, a flexible, versatile dimension that allows the garment to be worn in a variety of styles.

The label has already developed quite a celebrity following with the likes of Nicole Kidman, Miranda Kerr and sisters Kylie and Dannii Minogue all proud supporters of the label.

The collection is designed in Australia and screen printed on to 100% silk luxe. Scarves are $249 each and each design is limited to 200 pieces. The complete collection is available online at www.bayandfyfe.com
