Habitus #64 Welcome to the HABITUS ‘Future’ and ‘Habitus House of the Year’ Issue. We are thrilled to have interior designer of excellence, Brahman Perera, as Guest Editor and to celebrate his Sri Lankan heritage through an interview with Palinda Kannangara and his extraordinary Ek Onkar project – divine! Thinking about the future, we look at the technology shaping our approach to sustainability and the ways traditional materials are enjoying a new-found place in the spotlight. Cappellini’s Candy collection at SDM 2012

Made with repurposed construction steel, the Candy collection is minimalist, playful, and unsurprisingly sturdy.

Using an industrial coating process the common and usually unattractive steel bars are given a colourful, glossy finish that complements their corrugated texture to create a multitude of bright reflections.

The tables are available in 2 different shapes and sizes, square 40x40x40h cm and round 45x40h cm, and 5 colours (blue, green, white red and black).

“I wanted to play with the idea that something you would normally see as an inappropriate or unattractive material for making furniture could become very chic when shifted in another context and looked at from a different angle”. Designer Sylvain Willenz
