Kitchen & Bathroom Issue

Habitus 63 is arguably the most aspirational issue of the year with Kitchens & Bathrooms to dream about. Whether a family hub, an entertainer’s paradise or somewhere to grad a quick meal, how we live in and spend time in the kitchen is a very personal question that requires thought and an abundance of resources. Always the aspirational eye candy of design, we have some truly lovely kitchens from Greg Natale, YSG, Splinter Society, Sally Caroline and Studio Johnston. Bathrooms are just as important with Greg Natale, Studio Tate, YSG and Those Architects sharing some fabulous insights

Crafting a singular design language

The architecture of a home is often defined by its smallest gestures. ABI Interiors builds its identity around these moments – fixtures, finishes and fittings – designed to speak the same language across every room.

In design, it’s often the quietest details that carry the greatest weight. Tapware, door hardware, vanities and surfaces – these are the elements we touch and see every day, shaping how a space is read and felt. ABI Interiors, an Australian brand with a growing international footprint, has built its products around these essential components. The result is a design language that flows through the home, making for a unified spatial experience.

Founded on the Gold Coast in 2016, ABI Interiors is defined by a design-led cohesion. The brand offers a complete suite of kitchen and bathroom fixtures, along with tiles and hardware, all conceived to work together. This whole-of-house approach allows architects and designers to specify across multiple categories without compromising on consistency. The products speak the same visual language – minimal, precise and materially driven.

Across ABI’s collections of tapware, kitchen sinks, door hardware, tiles and bathroom vanities, the emphasis is on simplicity and tactility. Soft-edged geometries and finely honed profiles are finished in a palette of signature tones, from brushed brass to deep copper and soft white. These finishes move easily between rooms, creating a visual rhythm across different functions and programs within a home.

It’s a design strategy that feels particularly relevant across the Asia-Pacific, where compact footprints and open-plan arrangements place a premium on visual clarity. By offering refined solutions across multiple touchpoints, ABI supports a sense of architectural order, one where every detail is resolved, and nothing is left as an afterthought.

While the aesthetic is minimal, the performance is not. ABI’s fixtures are manufactured using premium materials – solid brass, 316 stainless steel, and high-density stone composites – engineered for longevity and everyday use. Each piece is designed in-house, allowing the brand to maintain control over form, finish and function. This technical discipline has supported its rapid expansion, with ABI now operating in New Zealand and the UK.

Behind the product range is a well-developed customer support system. ABI offers design consultations and specification guidance tailored to residential and multi-res projects, alongside an extensive sample program. The intention is to streamline the build and renovation process, without diluting the design outcome.

A growing focus on sustainability is also shaping the brand’s next phase. Water-saving tapware, low-impact production methods and a considered use of materials are guiding product development, striking a balance of innovation with restraint.

For ABI Interiors, good design is what connects a kitchen to a bathroom, one detail at a time. It’s a restraint that brings clarity – the kind of architectural quiet that holds the whole home together.
