Kitchen & Bathroom Issue

Habitus 63 is arguably the most aspirational issue of the year with Kitchens & Bathrooms to dream about. Whether a family hub, an entertainer’s paradise or somewhere to grad a quick meal, how we live in and spend time in the kitchen is a very personal question that requires thought and an abundance of resources. Always the aspirational eye candy of design, we have some truly lovely kitchens from Greg Natale, YSG, Splinter Society, Sally Caroline and Studio Johnston. Bathrooms are just as important with Greg Natale, Studio Tate, YSG and Those Architects sharing some fabulous insights

Daniel Boddam has introduced the Surf Collection, a furniture line that takes inspiration from the fluidity and form of classic surfboards.

Founded in 2013, Daniel Boddam Studio operates across architecture, interiors and furniture design, with an emphasis on calm, cohesive aesthetics. The Surf Collection continues this ethos, translating natural influences into refined, functional objects that integrate seamlessly into contemporary interiors.

The Surf Collection includes the Surf Low Table, Surf Dining Table, and Surf Side Table, each featuring smooth, sculptural curves and an arched void reminiscent of surfboard fins. Designed to bring a coastal sensibility into interior spaces, the pieces reflect Boddam’s commitment to simplicity and organic forms.

Each piece in the Surf Collection is crafted from sustainably sourced, eco-certified timber, ensuring both durability and environmental responsibility. The collection features a variety of finishes, including natural oak and smoked oak, which highlight the wood’s organic texture while offering versatility in different interior settings. The smooth, rounded edges and seamless joinery emphasize craftsmanship and attention to detail, reinforcing the studio’s focus on refined simplicity.

Moreover, each piece also is made to order in collaboration with local artisans, ensuring minimal waste and a focus on longevity. This approach supports both craftsmanship and sustainability, reinforcing the studio’s reputation for creating timeless, durable designs.

As for design philosophy, the Surf Collection embodies Daniel Boddam’s overarching philosophy of ‘Poetic Minimalism,’ where simplicity is balanced with sculptural elegance. Inspired by the Australian coastline, the collection translates the soft curves and flowing lines of nature into functional objects. This approach aligns with Boddam’s architectural and interior work, where organic forms and natural materials create spaces that feel both timeless and tranquil.

Designed for versatility and functionality, the Surf Collection integrates effortlessly into a range of interior styles. The Surf Low Table serves as a statement centrepiece in a living space, while the Surf Dining Table offers both visual lightness and structural integrity. The Surf Side Table, with its distinctive arched void, can function as a standalone piece or be paired with other furniture to create layered compositions. The considered proportions and sculptural quality of each item ensure they remain both aesthetically striking and highly practical.
