The 'Bespoke' Issue

With Guest Editor Yasmine Ghoniem, we are launched headfirst into the world of unique and eclectic design. From architecture to interiors, there is nothing that can’t be enlivened with bespoke interventions. Granted, a stunningly beautiful home can be made by simply shopping for the best, but when the artist’s hand is introduced, some pure magic is possible. Whether it is an artwork or a new upholstery, a built-in component or a mosaic inlay, these gestures, whether bold or subtle, are what make the home unique.

Design After Dark

This Melbourne Indesign, design goes dark. For one night only, Friday 12 August it’s time for your after-dark date with the best in design.

Melbourne Indesign is excited to present a first for Melbourne, Up Late Indesign – an exclusive Friday evening bar hop between a specially curated collection of the city’s top design hot spots, cultural landmarks and fashion brands.

Teaming up with District, Hub Furniture, the National Gallery of Victoria, Zenith and Cos, Melbourne Indesign brings the CBD alive with a series of exclusive one-night-only experiences to kick off your weekend of design pleasure!

District is opening the doors to their 20 Russell street showroom to the public for the first time, exclusively for Melbourne Indesign visitors, while Hub showcases the latest in their range and launch their Design Speed Dating program, giving a lucky few the opportunity to spend time with design powerhouse Patrizia Moroso, and Zenith heat up the winter night with their new collection of All Sorts lounge and ottomans, matched with winter drinks.

Teaming up with NGV, Melbourne Indesign also offers Friday nighters a rare first-look at the NGV’s Glenn Murcutt, Architecture of Faith exhibition, pre-opening. Curator Melbourne Indesign Ambassador Simone LeAmon will personally walk you through this exciting exploration of Murcutt’s Australian Islamic Centre project at Hobsons Bay, Melbourne.
