With Adam Goodrum, the loveliest man in design, as Guest Editor, we draw on his insights as a furniture designer, artist and educator to look at the makers shaping our design world. Designer Rugs adds the Finishing Touch to Contemporary Homes

Often the most eye catching aspect of a room, the humble rug has come a long way in the late 20th and early 21st centuries – and the team at Designer Rugs are pushing this design hero into the next level with their customisable collection of rugs.

A sophisticated, moody vibe with plenty of timber panelling gives the Melbourne House an indisputable charm throughout its two-storey, seven-bedroom space. The charcoal and grey from the designer’s own London Designer Rugs piece offset the warm timber with a contemporary edge

Original design: Persian from the Saffron collection
A generously proportioned and light filled apartment that boasts panoramic views of Sydney Harbour that has been transformed into into an elegant, comfortable and sumptuously appointed space that with contemporary style. The Persian rug bridged the design to the oceanic colours of the harbour.

Original design: Kazakhstan from the Pavement collection
Thie deluxe, dramatic design for a young family in Sydney’s Inner West saw the creation of a series of striking spaces for entertaining guests, whilst still retaining a functioning family home – set off by the Kazakhstan Designer Rugs piece.


Project: Heritage Property Brisbane

Original design: Serendipity by Sara Marriott
The interior of this heritage listed property pays homage to tradition whilst still combining contemporary and classic furniture pieces. The careful restoration ensures longevity of a Brisbane landmark, and with, the Serendipity rug, includes a fun abstract sense of style.

Project: Contemporary Melbourne
Designer: Hare and Klein
Original design: Grandma’s Closet from the Bella Vista collection
The clients’ collection of art, books and artefacts informed the interior of this  contemporary home design in Melbourne City. With decorative finishes from hare and Klein, including the Grandma’s Closet rug, the space is transformed into a warm and comfortable home.

Original design: Attic from the Transient collection
The lounge room in this Tennyson Point home was redesigned with lightning as a requirement, and the brightening throughout is a gorgeous change. The run of bricks along the arched doorways, highlights the space’s redesign and the Attic Designer Rugs piece completes the vibe.
