Habitus Loves… Milan SDM 2012

With so much good design in Milan this week it’s hard to do it all justice. Habliving gives you a peek of eight of our favourites.

Solo Chair

Designed by: Studio Nitzan Cohen for Mattiazzi

Why we love it: Simple, robust and cost-effective, the Solo Chair offers flexible elegance, and stacks beautifully.

Where you can get it: Milan SDM 2012

Deskbox

Designed by: Raw Edges for Arco

Why we love it: Ideal for situations with limited space, the Deskbox slides open to become a convenient work space. Retracting to half this area, it is the latest evolution in Arco’s drive for innovation and ingenuity in desk design.

Where you can get it: Milan SDM 2012

Marina picnic table

Designed by: Bruno Fattorini & Partners for Extremis

Why we love it: Made of lightweight, durable pultrusion glass fiber profiles, the Marina picnic table can be made to seat up to 40 people and will weather the elements better than any wood.

Where you can get it: Milan SDM 2012

Corniches

Designed by: Ronan + Erwan Bouroullec for Vitra

Why we love it: Offering an impromptu, unfettered solution to shelving/storage needs, Corniches are individual protrusions that can be used solo or in formation.

Saya Chair

Designed by: Lievore Altherr Molina for Arper

Why we love it: Simple, distinct, and contemporary, the Saya Chair can be customised in three different woods, coloured and lacquered in various natural shades, with wooden or chromed steel legs.

Where you can get it: Milan SDM 2012

Superbowl

Designed by: Staffan Holm

Why we love it: Inspired by renaissance still life paintings Superbowl is a fruitbowl designed to look good empty or full. It’s graceful, fluid geometry adds dynamism to it’s context.

Where you can get it: Milan SDM 2012

alt

Rocky

Designed by: Marc Newson for Magis

Why we love it: Good design for children is sadly hard to come by, so it’s great to see this simple, cost-effective rocking horse featuring at Milan this year. With a gentle rocking motion and classic equine inspiration, childhood nostalgia is unavoidable.

Where you can get it: Milan SDM 2012

38 Series

Designed by: Omer Arbel for Bocci

Why we love it: Combining mouth-blown glass, a planter and copper finish, the 38 Series is unexpected but reassuring.
