Habitus Loves… Online boutiques

As we are all aware, we are most in the mood to shop late at night, at home (maybe in bed), and after a large meal and a few wines. Here are our eight favourite online stores for design products.

top3 by Design

Created by: Terri Winter

Why we love it: With a philosophy of stocking there items per category (hence the name), top3 presents a selective and frequently updated catalogue of designer goods from around the world.

Where you can get it: top3

Collection of Cool

Created by: Cass Somas & Anthea Somas

Why we love it: Taking the prize for the best web design, Collection of Cool’s catalogue is a reaction against what they call “shopping mall malaise”, and combines a concentrated selection of design products with a fun and casual browsing experience.

Dunlin Home

Created by: Alexandra Bond & Nico Barber

Why we love it: Dunlin’s catalogue presents a discerning range of beautifully crafted, elegant products generally evocative of old world charm. A clean, minimalist website provides the perfect canvas for the gorgeous product photography to shine on, making Dunlin an excellent destination for window-shoppers too (or whatever their online equivalent is).

Where you can get it: Dunlin

Everingham & Watson

Created by: Susie Everingham & Liz Watson

Why we love it: An emanation of a wildly successful popup late last year, Everingham & Watson pays homage to its founders’ love for Australiana, colour, texture and character. An eclectic and playful collection of products make the site a delight to browse, and may just spark a twinge of nostalgia.

Iconic

Created by:

Why we love it: With a range of goods spanning from classical to quirky Iconic’s catalogue is broad but curated. In particular the lighting section abounds in colourful, fanciful and minimalist pieces that are sure to elevate the aesthetics of any space.

Where you can get it: iconic

The Minimalist

Created by: Leah Robbins

Why we love it: Narrowing their focus to designer made, limited edition, unique, unusual and high quality products. That said their selection includes flexible, versatile, and economically priced items as well as their more exclusive counterparts, validating their claim that “We believe good design is for everyone!”

Where you can get it: The Minimalist

Zanui

Created by: Dean Kelly

Why we love it: With a huge range spanning furniture, lighting, homewares, appliance and more, Zanui is an excellent location for those who already have something in mind. It’s abundance and prices make it an invaluable resource for the serious online shopper.

Where you can get it: Zanui

Temple & Webster

Created by: Brian Shanahan, Adam McWhinney, Conrad Yiu & Mark Coulter

Why we love it: Operating on a ‘members only’ system Temple & Webster offers impressive discounts (up tp 70%!). With a keen eye for refined, well-made products and a focus on giving consumers the stories behind them, the website is truly deserving of the ’boutique’ title.
