Kitchen & Bathroom Issue

Habitus 63 is arguably the most aspirational issue of the year with Kitchens & Bathrooms to dream about. Whether a family hub, an entertainer’s paradise or somewhere to grad a quick meal, how we live in and spend time in the kitchen is a very personal question that requires thought and an abundance of resources. Always the aspirational eye candy of design, we have some truly lovely kitchens from Greg Natale, YSG, Splinter Society, Sally Caroline and Studio Johnston. Bathrooms are just as important with Greg Natale, Studio Tate, YSG and Those Architects sharing some fabulous insights

New flagship furniture showroom in Sydney’s Northern Beaches

King Living

King Living has opened its largest showroom to date in Balgowlah, creating a new design destination for the region.

Located on Condamine Street, King Living’s new site spans more than 2,000 square metres across two levels and becomes the brand’s 21st showroom in Australia and 38th worldwide. The Balgowlah showroom is designed as an experiential retail space, presenting the full range of King Living collections, including modular sofas, recliners, beds, dining and outdoor furniture. Each piece is made to order, with more than 200 exclusive fabrics and leathers available, alongside signature finishes and optional smart accessories.

“The Northern Beaches is a community that understands what it means to live well,” says King Living Founder, David King. “They seek thoughtful design, comfort and enduring quality, and that’s exactly what King Living delivers.”

Architectural design is a central feature of the showroom. A two-storey atrium forms the heart of the building, drawing natural light throughout and creating a gallery-like atmosphere. A Ficus Hillii tree stands in the atrium as a living centrepiece, connecting the interior to the surrounding landscape.

Meanwhile, the materials palette reflects durability and sustainability. Precast concrete walls and Cemintel Barestone cladding provide a raw textural backdrop, while a glass shopfront and aluminium louvres with a timber-look finish maximise light and improve energy efficiency. The building incorporates a solar photovoltaic system on the roof, designed to generate around 90 per cent of its energy requirements and operate at or near carbon neutrality. This follows similar solar installations at King Living’s Smithfield warehouse and other showrooms in Nunawading and Adelaide.

The showroom has 26 on-site parking spaces and includes electric vehicle charging facilities. Customers can also access an in-store barista while exploring the collections.

King Living CEO David Woollcott comments: “This showroom is now our largest in Australia and the globe. We’re proud to create a space that speaks directly to the lifestyle and values of this unique part of Sydney. We see this opening as a landmark moment in our continued investment in Australian retail.”

Woollcott concludes: “Today’s savvy customers are seeking more than aesthetics, they’re seeking value. King Living meets this demand with a distinct and compelling value proposition: furniture that delivers comfort for life.”

The showroom opened in August 2025 and is positioned to serve the Northern Beaches’ customer base.
