King Living are creating beautiful and durable outdoor environments for perfect summer days

A new range of products and finishes are elevating outdoor living spaces.

As spring starts to dawn in the Southern Hemisphere, we can feel the days getting longer and the nights getting sweeter, and as winter finally thaws, we are ready to start venturing out into our gardens and terraces once more. For those of us planning for the warmer days ahead, King Living are on hand to help, with a range of specialised products, finishes, and design evolutions to create idyllic outdoor spaces.

King Living has been at the forefront of Australian innovation since 1977. Originally established in Sydney, their collections are known globally for their exceptional quality and unparalleled craftsmanship, with an in-house design team and state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities maintaining their meticulous standards.

As a brand deeply attuned to their home nation, King Living have recently announced the expansion of its outdoor collection, with a suite of new releases that lean-in to the Australian affinity with the great outdoors.

High-performance design

Redefining outdoor performance, two new fabric solutions promise to elevate outdoor living spaces with comfort and style. “Freshwater” and “Zenith” are engineered for exterior spaces, and respond to the harsh Australian climate without compromising on the aesthetic and tactility that represents the King Living quintessential fabric options.

Freshwater is woven from solution-dyed acrylic and offers a soft, canvas-like texture. Its various colourways are drawn from the beauty of Australian landscapes, creating pieces that settle into their context and echo the world around us. While Freshwater is smooth, Zenith is intentionally textural, with a bouclé finish crafted from solution-dyed polypropylene. Ideal for both indoor and outdoor use, Zenith is machine washable and extremely hard-wearing, and is available in a tonal range of calming neutrals and vibrant statement colourways.

Products to live in

From a product standpoint, new collections and upcoming releases echo the King Living trademark modularity and architectural flair, with seating and table options that are designed for easy living.

Their iconic 1977 Sofa – one of the pieces that catapulted King into Australia’s design consciousness – welcomes an exterior version to its product family, with its signature relaxed, sculptural form now crafted with the highest level of durability. Like the original version, the exterior 1977 is modular by design, with its lightweight aluminium frame allowing for endless arrangements.

This is also a key feature in the Plateau Outdoor Sofa & Sun Lounge, where Omni Positional Backrests reinvent traditional seating for optimal outdoor comfort. Sit upright, lounge in comfort or rearrange the backrests in the middle of the sofa for dual seating, while a frame of sustainable teak or high-performance ceramic, along with innovative outdoor  fabrics ensure the longevity of the pieces through all the seasons.

All-season performance has also been considered in the Quay WeatherWeave Outdoor Dining Chair. The latest for the Quay Outdoor Collection, the chair features an intricate WeatherWeave crafted from a durable synthetic fibre, while an elegant, lightweight frame and ergonomic design creates lasting comfort and support.

Finally, Plateau Outdoor Dining brings warmth and flexibility to alfresco lunches and dinners, easily accommodating larger groups as well as more casual, intimate dining. Clean lines and contemporary form are achieved with a steel frame, while teak features add a natural, easy aesthetic for a lived-in luxury.

On the horizon

With these releases in hand, King Living are also preparing for the next products to join their outdoor ranges. The Cottesloe Outdoor Rug will bring a textural element for true outdoor living, echoing the materiality of indoor spaces with an intricate multi-tonal weave that is designed for durability whilst maintaining a refined aesthetic.

As summer begins to seep in, King Living is set to redefine how we live, enjoy, and relax outdoors. Designed to evolve with our lifestyles, every piece is deeply considered and expertly crafted, with a made-to-order process ensuring the range is not only beautiful but also built to last.
