Integrated fridges combine style with substance

These two refrigerators from global kitchen innovation leader Liebherr break new ground in terms of not just style and usability but functionality and performance.

For the designers at Liebherr, style is always an important consideration.

The company’s two new fully integrated refrigerators, the IRBPh 5170 and the IRBh 5170, are no exception. Complete with transparent OpenStage drawers, which are of various heights and therefore suitable for different types and sizes of foods, these products ensure optimal presentation and easy access every time.

Add to this their integrated light towers, and the inspired inclusion of SmartSteel on both the rear walls and interior doors of the fridges, and it would be fair to say that these products recall the refrigerated display cases found in fine delicatessens.

That said, when it comes to refrigeration, style is only part of the equation. Considering the important task these appliances perform, effectiveness is always just as important a consideration. Beyond their capacity to showcase their contents and entrance users with design brilliance, the IRBh 5170 and the IRBPh 5170 also push boundaries in terms of performance.

BioFresh technology

The IRBPh 5170 refrigerator includes BioFresh, a technology developed with an understanding that, in order to maintain their freshness most effectively, different types of foods should ideally be stored at different temperatures and different levels of humidity.

As included in the IRBPh 5170 refrigerator, BioFresh drawers make this possible. Set at around 0°C, they provide the ideal environment for storing fresh meat, dairy products, fruit, and vegetables, and therefore ensure these foods stay fresher for longer.

Keeping the temperature at just above 0°C combined with high humidity (HydroSafe) results in fruit and vegetables staying fresher for longer, while a dry environment (DrySafe) is ideal for storing meat, fish, and dairy products.

BioFreshPlus technology

Taking this a step further, the IRBh5170 integrated refrigerator includes an independent electronic control system, which allows the user to split the temperature within the drawer. Known as BioFreshPlus, this makes it possible to simultaneously store both fish and meat at their optimal temperahome.liebherr.comtures (-2°C and 0°C, respectively).

Importantly, BioFresh and BioFreshPlus do more than enable users to keep food fresh for longer. As independent studies have confirmed, storing foods in this way also has a significant impact when it comes to preserving vitamins and minerals within those foods.

In addition, for optimal performance, the IRBPh 5170 carries a 5-star energy rating, while the IRBh 5170 carries a 6-star rating. As is the case with all Liebherr household appliances, both fridges come with a full 5-year warranty on parts and labour. Imported and distributed in Australia by Andi-Co Australia, they represent the perfect combination of style and substance.
