Kitchen & Bathroom Issue

Habitus 63 is arguably the most aspirational issue of the year with Kitchens & Bathrooms to dream about. Whether a family hub, an entertainer’s paradise or somewhere to grad a quick meal, how we live in and spend time in the kitchen is a very personal question that requires thought and an abundance of resources. Always the aspirational eye candy of design, we have some truly lovely kitchens from Greg Natale, YSG, Splinter Society, Sally Caroline and Studio Johnston. Bathrooms are just as important with Greg Natale, Studio Tate, YSG and Those Architects sharing some fabulous insights

Lisa Tomasetti Peeks Behind the Curtain of the Australian Ballet

Renowned photographer Lisa Tomasetti’s new series Behind the Scenes: The Australian Ballet on the International Stage is currently featured at M Contemporary, showcasing beautiful photographs of the Australian Ballet abroad.

Taken on their tours to Tokyo, Paris and New York City, Tomasetti has captured the Australia Ballet in their element, and behind the scenes. Having worked as a visual artist and photographer for the past 23 years, her skill level is indisputable, and in full display throughout this new gallery series.

In this unique series, Tomasetti has removed the ballerinas from the natural presence on the stage, and has them dancing, pirouetting and leaping through the city streets. These striking images juxtapose the high gloss of a ballet performance with gritty urbanism design, capturing the passion for movement embodied by the dancers. The works display the classical sensibility of both ballet, but also of Tomasetti herself, whose sense of composition and light displayed in the photographs capture the essential spontaneity of movement.

The weeklong presentation runs from November18–25 at M Contemporary.
