Elegant Fluidity: Introducing Arial by Molteni&C, designed by Studio Klass

Inspired by the efficient minimalism of the Arial typeface, Molteni&C reveals a new door and wall panel system, pushing the boundaries of furniture design.

As a celebrated powerhouse of Italian design, Molteni&C is continually exploring new avenues of design, and the launch of Arial is proof. Moving beyond the confines of furniture, Arial is a unique door and Boiserie (wood panelling) system, designed in collaboration with Studio Klass, the Milan-based design and consulting practice which has been working with Molteni&C, Citterio and UniFor, the companies part of the Molteni Group.

Arial brings the studio’s distinctive minimalism and refined aesthetic to life, delivering an innovative solution that elevates both form and function within interior spaces. Arial offers architects and interior designers a flexible, elegant system for defining or transforming spaces – including the Australian-first Molteni&C Flagship Store in Richmond, Melbourne where the product can be viewed in person.

Inspired by the clean lines of the iconic Arial typeface, the new Boiserie and Door systems seamlessly integrate into diverse interiors through bespoke customisation options. This collection embodies Molteni&C’s long-standing values of craftsmanship and innovation while reflecting Studio Klass’s ability to bring an architectural vision to something as technically complex as panelling and doors.

Studio Klass’s design philosophy is evident in every detail of Arial. The design process was meticulous, focusing not just on aesthetics but also on the practical requirements of modern interiors. The result is a sleek system, crafted with lightweight aluminium profiles. The system’s adaptability is enhanced by an array of luxurious finishes, including oak, matte or glossy lacquer, and the sophisticated Blend textile. With panels reaching heights of up to 4.5 metres, Arial allows for a spectrum of creative configurations.

A standout feature of Arial is the patented door hinges and the system’s use of electrics, a nod to its seamless integration of modern technology and design. A unique tie-rod system allows for precise alignment of panels, ensuring that the clean, minimalist aesthetic is never compromised. This attention to technical detail not only improves the ease of installation but also sets Arial apart from other systems.

The versatility of the Arial system is one of its greatest strengths. By offering customisable decorative panels and a variety of door configurations, the system empowers architects and designers to create dynamic, fluid spaces. Whether the goal is to open up a room or create intimate, closed-off areas, Arial provides a tailored solution that adapts to the specific needs of each project. In this way, it speaks directly to the evolving demands of modern living and the need for spaces that can effortlessly transform and adapt.

Molteni&C’s history of innovation and craftsmanship has been a defining feature of its 90-year legacy, and this collaboration with Studio Klass brings to life a product that fuses technical innovation with timeless design.

In addition to the first Australian-first Molteni&C Flagship Store in Melbourne, a highly anticipated new space is set to open in Sydney’s Surry Hills early 2025.
