Squaring of the Circle by Zuzunaga

Meizai has released the Squaring of the Circle fabric collection from Spanish Studio Zuzunaga.

Beginning as collaboration between Cristian Zuzunaga and Danish design house Kvadrat, the Squaring of the Cricle collection is now one of the most recognisable collections in the Zuzunaga range.

The colourful character of the collection reflects artist and designer Cristian Zuzunaga’s mission to provoke positive emotions and sensations by introducing colour to daily life with a focus on the pixel, the icon of our time.

The collection takes its name from the expression squaring the circle, or to do something seemingly impossible. The series originally consisted of three pixel print designs, named Spirit, Soul and Fire, which have now been expanded to include three new variations – Mercury, Venus and Luna. Individuality is at the heart of the collection: each cushion is unique thanks to the repeat of the printed fabric that is digitally printed on Trevira CS Fabric by Kvadrat in Denmark.

Founded by artist and designer Cristian Zuzunaga in 2007, the studio is based between Barcelona and London and specialises in creating beautiful textile-related products produced using the finest materials, that capture the dynamic nature of contemporary living.

Zuzunaga is passionate about the philosophy of quality over quantity and upholds sustainable and ethical ways of working; valuing handmade craft over mass-produced, trend-following products. All designs are produced using the finest materials; and the suppliers and manufacturers promote long term sustainability and growth, both within their own companies and their local communities.
