The 'Bespoke' Issue

With Guest Editor Yasmine Ghoniem, we are launched headfirst into the world of unique and eclectic design. From architecture to interiors, there is nothing that can’t be enlivened with bespoke interventions. Granted, a stunningly beautiful home can be made by simply shopping for the best, but when the artist’s hand is introduced, some pure magic is possible. Whether it is an artwork or a new upholstery, a built-in component or a mosaic inlay, these gestures, whether bold or subtle, are what make the home unique.

Stormtech’s Special Assembly Linear Drain

Stormtech specialises in narrow stainless steel trench drainage solutions for pools, pool surrounds, paved areas, courtyards and balconies, as well as for bathrooms, showers and other wet areas.

The 65AG100 and 38AG90 Special Assembly products are narrow profile, high capacity drainage systems that allow flexibility in pool design and construction, in particular in wet-edged or infinity pool situations. This patented manifold drainage system reduces the need for traditional wider grating. It is composed of a PVC channel with outlets every 200mm connected via downpipes to corresponding sockets in the pipe below. This allows the channel to be installed level while the pipe is given sufficient fall to be self-cleaning. The system is then completed with a stylish “Slimline” stainless steel grate, available in 38mm or 65mm width in wedge-wire or, for a more budget conscientious option, a punched hole or slotted version.

This system is also used as accessory drainage within or around coping to protect garden and grass areas from contamination by pool water or to reduce the impact of stormwater into the pool water system.

In recognition of this innovative product, Stormtech was awarded a DesignMark at the Australian Design Awards.
