New York glamour with an Australian twist

Greg Natale’s latest Manhattan project balances sculptural grandeur with a calm, grounded warmth, anchored by his Bosco Collection for Tongue & Groove. In Natale’s hands, the timber floor becomes a commanding presence – setting the stage for every room in this house.

On Manhattan’s Upper East Side, a classic brownstone becomes a showcase for crafted pattern and precise detailing. The instantly recognisable hand of Australian interior designer Greg Natale comes to life in this layered home.

Pushing Natale’s design signature even further, the project features a modern incarnation of herringbone flooring with the debut of Ada, part of Natale’s collaboration with Tongue & Groove, launched in early 2025. One of the five designs in the Bosco Collection, Ada brings movement and graphic intent across the floor. Installed throughout the living areas and bedrooms, the pattern sets a continuity that threads the townhouse together, reading as deliberate composition rather than embellishment.

The project crystallises a design conversation between architecture, furniture and finish. Natale calibrates strong, sculptural stone and lacquered surfaces with layers of colour and custom joinery. The timber floors’ wave-like geometry mediates those gestures, softening edges and lending flow between rooms. With a warm European Oak finish, Ada holds its own without demanding attention – an elegant counterpoint to the home’s richer moments of marble and gloss. “The wave detail gives it flow… subtle enough to let the rest of the space breathe but still has enough personality to hold its own,” Natale notes of the pattern’s intent.

For Tongue & Groove, the collaboration captures a sense of creativity. The Bosco Collection is designed with the same quality the brand is renowned for. With extraordinary flooring laying the groundwork in this Manhattan home, Natale could then push the contrast between moody hues and pastels, vintage European pieces and contemporary custom elements. As can often be found in a Greg Natale project, this New York home expresses a cohesive interior where pattern is a clear M.O. for movement, proportion and tone.

Core to the townhouse’s narrative is honouring the clients’ European sensibility. As such, Italian stone has been chosen at the source, elsewhere Parisian-inflected maximalism is balanced with contemporary clarity, all woven into the urban fabric of New York. Natale has reinstated the building’s classic entry and layered rooms with curated pieces, letting crafted surfaces do the heavy lifting. Underpinning it all, the floor is the project’s throughline: a crafted surface that supports art, furniture and architecture with equal poise.

A perfect match: Greg Natale x Tongue & Groove

As the first realised interior featuring a pattern from the Bosco Collection, this home is a testament to the material statement and finesse of Ada. Ada moves beyond traditional herringbone toward a subtler cadence – an undulation that feels contemporary without sacrificing on timelessness.

By grounding the interior with a beautiful floor pattern, Natale redefines the role of the floor from backdrop to design instrument.
