Kitchen & Bathroom Issue

Habitus 63 is arguably the most aspirational issue of the year with Kitchens & Bathrooms to dream about. Whether a family hub, an entertainer’s paradise or somewhere to grad a quick meal, how we live in and spend time in the kitchen is a very personal question that requires thought and an abundance of resources. Always the aspirational eye candy of design, we have some truly lovely kitchens from Greg Natale, YSG, Splinter Society, Sally Caroline and Studio Johnston. Bathrooms are just as important with Greg Natale, Studio Tate, YSG and Those Architects sharing some fabulous insights

Launched at Melbourne Design Week, TUPPA is here

TUPPA, designed by Jordan Fleming for Oft, is inviting rising designers to lead with their vision and supporting them with the resources to bring it to life.

Lighting brand Objects for Thought (Oft)’s latest collection, TUPPA, has been designed by Jordan Fleming and highlights a working model common in Europe. It’s been seen in partnerships between brands like Flos and international designers, but seldom found in Australia, particularly in lighting design. For Jordan, working with Oft allowed for deep creative exploration.

“As a brand I admire, working with them allowed the design to evolve organically,” she says. “Their supportive, open-minded approach created the ideal environment for creative exploration, making the process both rewarding and creatively fulfilling.”

TUPPA marks a new chapter for Oft – a quiet but deliberate shift towards new voices and new possibilities, supporting and building on the visions of leading designers. Oft’s Jay Jermyn and CJ Anderson say they’re excited to curate and facilitate the creativity of others.

“TUPPA speaks to the kind of pieces we want to create – pieces that are commercial in execution, but that originate from a strong design voice. This model, where a designer’s vision leads, is relatively uncommon in Australia. But for us, it’s essential to the future of thoughtful lighting design here.”

Referencing the familiar tactility of vintage kitchenware, TUPPA’s rounded, hand-blown glass shades evoke the curves of retro Tupperware, reimagined through a lens that feels both contemporary and timeless. Milky, frosted and coloured glass finishes are paired with spun brass or stainless steel components, giving each piece a refined yet playful sensibility.

“The design is subtle, sculptural and full of quiet surprises,” she says. “This pendant light creates a sense of cosy intimacy, enhancing the atmosphere without overwhelming the space.”

The collection was developed in consultation with renowned Melbourne glass artist Ruth Allen and its name is a playful nod to its inspiration. TUPPA will expand into additional luminaire types, including a floor lamp and wall light, continuing to explore its subtle, dynamic design across different forms. It launchds at the historic Queen Victoria Market during Melbourne Design Week, presented as part of Oft’s broader mission to support and build on the visions of leading designers. It marks the fifth collection by Oft, following on from its Rider, Prose, Sequence and Verse collections.
