Fashion is often concerned with what’s new, but how we care for the clothes we already own is becoming an increasingly important part of the conversation. At Melbourne Fashion Week 2026, Swiss appliance brand V-ZUG explored this relationship as the event’s Official Fabric Care Partner.
Held from 19th to 25th October under the theme Wear the Moment, Melbourne Fashion Week brought together more than 300 designers and retailers across a program of over 100 free and ticketed events. V-ZUG’s involvement extended the focus beyond design and craftsmanship to the ongoing care and longevity of garments.

Central to the partnership was a fabric-care experience at the M/FW Lounge at Younghusband, programmed alongside The Edit Runway on 22nd October and the Student Collections Runway on 23rd October. The activation offered guests an opportunity to experience the brand’s Refresh Butler technology through a premium garment refresh service.
For V-ZUG, best known for its Swiss-made premium appliances and steam cooking technology, the partnership provided an opportunity to introduce its approach to fabric care to a design-conscious audience.
“Fashion is about so much more than the moment a garment is created or purchased. The way we care for the pieces we love plays an important role in how long they remain part of our lives,” said Sally Lukey, Head of Marketing at V-ZUG Australia.

The collaboration also brought together V-ZUG, stylist Stuart Walford and emerging designers through locally created content and storytelling exploring the relationship between fashion, fabric and care.
Melbourne Fashion Week Creative Director Matthew Flinn welcomed the partnership, noting that it extended the fashion conversation to include how garments are maintained over time.

While the fashion industry continues to grapple with questions of consumption and longevity, the partnership offered a practical reminder that the lifespan of a garment doesn’t end when it leaves the runway or the shop floor.
For V-ZUG, it also marked a move to build greater awareness of fabric care as part of its broader home appliance offering, with the brand hoping to develop a longer-term relationship with Melbourne Fashion Week.
