The 'Bespoke' Issue

With Guest Editor Yasmine Ghoniem, we are launched headfirst into the world of unique and eclectic design. From architecture to interiors, there is nothing that can’t be enlivened with bespoke interventions. Granted, a stunningly beautiful home can be made by simply shopping for the best, but when the artist’s hand is introduced, some pure magic is possible. Whether it is an artwork or a new upholstery, a built-in component or a mosaic inlay, these gestures, whether bold or subtle, are what make the home unique.

Victorian Bamboo Collection

A unique outdoor collection of 18th century inspired chairs, sofas and dining settings for gardens in search of an old soul.

Designed by: Thierry Massant & Dominique Malcor

Made: Belgium

I am: A collection of 18th century inspired outdoor chairs and sofas.

About Me:
Notable Belgian furniture maker Thierry Massant & Dominique Malcor have created the Massant garden collection which comprises 40 pieces in 18th-century French style, made with tools from the period. The pieces are offered in either oiled or natural teak with customizable outdoor fabrics. Some pieces are influenced by historic references, such as the stylish Georges Jacob sofa, with its rectilinear-style frame and pattern of crosses, which was inspired by Marie Antoinette’s dairy chair, a piece from the famous dairy farm at her castle in France.

Materials:
Teak, quick dry foam cushions and bases, upholstered in a “Sunbrella” weather resistant fabric.
