The 'Bespoke' Issue

With Guest Editor Yasmine Ghoniem, we are launched headfirst into the world of unique and eclectic design. From architecture to interiors, there is nothing that can’t be enlivened with bespoke interventions. Granted, a stunningly beautiful home can be made by simply shopping for the best, but when the artist’s hand is introduced, some pure magic is possible. Whether it is an artwork or a new upholstery, a built-in component or a mosaic inlay, these gestures, whether bold or subtle, are what make the home unique.

Vitra Grand Repos – a Marriage of Comfort and Style

Antonio Citterio’s Grand Repos and Repos stand in the tradition of the classic lounge chair, but Citterio has developed the concept further to reach a new level.

Italian designer and architect Antonio Citterio knows how to combine timeless elegance with unsurpassed comfort – with a name that evokes the Italian word for ‘rest’ (riposo) and with their generous padding and continuously adjustable sitting positions that fulfill almost all demands with respect to comfortable, relaxing seating, the Repos and Grand Repos are superb both aesthetically and to sit in.

Citterio has worked with Vitra regularly for around 25 years and during this time has created a variety of designs – including several pioneering office chairs. After many years of experience in creating dynamic and healthy seating, he has now applied his expertise to the private living area, with Repos and Grand Repos as his premiere pieces.
