The 'Bespoke' Issue

With Guest Editor Yasmine Ghoniem, we are launched headfirst into the world of unique and eclectic design. From architecture to interiors, there is nothing that can’t be enlivened with bespoke interventions. Granted, a stunningly beautiful home can be made by simply shopping for the best, but when the artist’s hand is introduced, some pure magic is possible. Whether it is an artwork or a new upholstery, a built-in component or a mosaic inlay, these gestures, whether bold or subtle, are what make the home unique.

Since her childhood Yasmin Manttan has lived and breathed window furnishings. The daughter of a blind and curtain manufacturer, her father’s company Australian Curtain Industries Pty Ltd was the largest of its kind in Australia until the late 1980s with around six hundred staff across four locations. Over the years Yasmin was involved in every aspect of the business.

Her love for window furnishings saw the establishment of The Art Of Windows in 1996. With a strong design sensibility Yasmin works closely with architects and builders, tailoring her products to complement both the windows and interior/exterior building design in order to deliver functional and aesthetically relevant pieces.
