The Life Outside Issue

Introducing the Life Outside issue of Habitus magazine. With life increasingly being absorbed into a digital space, there is never a more important moment to hold something tangible. In this context, the power of nature to have a physiological impact on our sense of wellbeing has never been more important. So how can we cultivate the benefits of the our natural environment in the most intimate of places – our homes? This was the question that helped to bring this issue of Habitus to life.

Featured in Habitus 18, Indian-born Gupta works across mediums, creating striking installations.

Born in Khagaul, Bihar, India in 1964, Subodh Gupta has made a name for himself in the art world for his large sculptural installations. After several artist grants, scholarships and awards – 26 years later – Subodh’s work can now be seen on varying international platforms.

In 2013, Gupta will exhibit another solo show at the Kunstmuseum Thun in Switzerland. Having exhibited all over the world, some of Gupta’s career highlights include representing his country at the Venice Biennale in 1995, exhibiting at the Museum of Modern Art and Guggenheim in New York, the Hayward Gallery and Serpentine Gallery in London, just to name a few, while more locally he has been a part of the Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art in 2009 held in Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art.
