The Life Outside Issue

Introducing the Life Outside issue of Habitus magazine. With life increasingly being absorbed into a digital space, there is never a more important moment to hold something tangible. In this context, the power of nature to have a physiological impact on our sense of wellbeing has never been more important. So how can we cultivate the benefits of the our natural environment in the most intimate of places – our homes? This was the question that helped to bring this issue of Habitus to life.

Stunning photography on show at the Image Makers exhibition

Strategic partner to the INDE.Awards, the Image Makers Association Australia presents a curated offering from its I SHOT 23 exhibition at Craftworks and it’s guaranteed to be a feast for the eye as well as a thought-provoking experience.

In Melbourne, the Image Makers Association Australia (IMAA) presents a selection of images from the I SHOT 23 exhibition HOME / AWAY at Craftworks in Abbotsford, Victoria.

An initiative of the many tenants in the building that includes CHT Architects, who designed Craftworks and reside in the building, the large lobby gallery area is the perfect place to showcase images that were a part of the larger I SHOT 23 exhibition featured in Stylecraft showrooms in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth in November 2023.

Nick Carlino, Bosco Verticale.

Craftworks was filled with architects, designers, creatives and lovers of photography at the launch on 1st March. This was a celebration of great photography set in the architectural surrounds of the ground floor area. In the design of the building, CHT Architects was thinking ahead, and providing a wonderful space where exhibitions such as HOME / AWAY bring a cultural and creative offering to both tenants and the local populace.

The selection of 13 photographers and their HOME / AWAY images is impressive with a stellar group that includes work by Caitlin Mills, Damien Kook, Dianna Snape, Dylan James, Elizabeth Schiavello, Emma Cross, Graham Alderton, Marnie Hawson, Natasha Alessio-Mulhall, Nick Carlino, Tess Kelly, Tom Blachford and Tom Roe. The theme of HOME / AWAY encompasses a wide perspective that range from the close and intimate to the distant and unfamiliar. Each photographer has interpreted the theme through their own personal viewpoint and the result is a captivating translation of ideas.

The exhibition is on now, it’s free and everyone is welcome to enjoy this curated ISHOT23 installation and all works are for sale by contacting the photographer. It’s worth the visit to explore the talent that resides in the photographic community and to savour the atmosphere of Craftworks.

The Image Makers Association Australia represents and supports professional and emerging photographers through education and industry support and is a Strategic Partner with the 2024 INDE.Awards. This year the INDE.Awards includes two categories for photographers, The Photographer – Commercial and The Photographer – Residential and all photographers are urged to enter their work and showcase their talent.

Two participants in the exhibition, Dianna Snape and John Gollings AM, are jury members in this year’s INDE.Awards.
