The Life Outside Issue

Introducing the Life Outside issue of Habitus magazine. With life increasingly being absorbed into a digital space, there is never a more important moment to hold something tangible. In this context, the power of nature to have a physiological impact on our sense of wellbeing has never been more important. So how can we cultivate the benefits of the our natural environment in the most intimate of places – our homes? This was the question that helped to bring this issue of Habitus to life.

The three, free events, being presented under the Apple Design Talks name, are open to industry and public alike, with a lot for everyone to take away from.

First up is Understanding Design with Chris McLean – August 18, 6:00pm – 7:00pm

Readers of this site know that design is so much more than the way something looks; it’s about combining technology, cognitive science, human need and beauty to produce something the world didn’t know it was missing. Chris Maclean, creative director for RE Sydney, will take us on an exploration of what design really means, including the role of the designer in today’s world.

The second event is being hosted by Zoë Weldon, and is Building Your Brand Imagery – September 15, 6:00pm – 7:00pm

In the highly visual and digital age we live in now, the design of one’s brand imagery and continuity are more important than ever. This session will see creative director Zoë Weldon explaining the power of social media as a platform for building your brand, and how you can use to create a next-level digital identity for your business.

The final of three Design Talks events is How to Find a Mentor with Ram Castillo – October 20, 6:00pm – 7:00pm

Design is always more complex than it seems. It’s the diversity of people and their ideas that inspire change and innovation. A mentor is a source of guidance and navigation. They provide constructive criticism and are always looking for ways to help us improve. Design director and author Ram Castillo, and creative director at Jane Fender, Ian Wingrove, will discuss the key steps to finding the right mentor.

All three events are free, and attendees can register interest and secure a place here. The events will all be help at the Apple Sydney Store at 367 George Street, Sydney.
