We are thrilled to have interior designer of excellence, Brahman Perera, as Guest Editor and to celebrate his Sri Lankan heritage through an interview with Palinda Kannangara and his extraordinary Ek Onkar project – divine! Thinking about the future, we look at the technology shaping our approach to sustainability and the ways traditional materials are enjoying a new-found place in the spotlight. Profiles on Yvonne Todd, Amy Lawrance, and Kallie Blauhorn are rounded out with projects from Studio ZAWA, SJB, Spirit Level, STUDIOLIVE, Park + Associates and a Lake House made in just 40 days by the wonderful Wutopia Lab, plus the short list for the Habitus House of the Year!

Australia’s most seminal design and arts event Semi-Permanent will return this year, as a part of the Vivid Sydney line-up.

With a number of high profile speakers in various fields still to be announced, first release tickets are on sale now.

The list of luminaries that hail from world over will include: Noah Taylor (Australian Artist/Actor), Ben Quilty (2011 Archibald Prize Winner) Anna Wili Highfield (Artist/ Sculptor), Patrick Clair (Emmy Award Winning Director and Animator), (Jason Woodside (LA based artist and collaborator), Craig Anderson (Professional Surfer), Hayden Cox (Photographer and Visual Artist), Murray Fredericks (Photographer/Visual Artist) and a first of its kind Stanley Donwood interactive and retrospective exhibition.

The above speakers will headline the annual event, Joined by a number of other masterminds in their significant creative fields. The event at Carriageworks will host two days of
presentations, exhibitions, installations, screenings and workshops, and is the opening event of Vivid Sydney. The event is again set to engage and inspire Australia’s creative communities, encouraging them to think global.

“With nearly 10 000 people attending our previous events, we’re crafting our next Sydney event to be a bespoke experience that truly inspires and enables creative minds from both Australia and abroad. Our next event will have something for the prolific designer, and the every day passer by,” says event founder Murray Bell.
