Living in the Environment Issue

Issue 62 is the first issue of the year and always a great time to put our best foot forward. With Adam Goodrum, the loveliest man in design, as Guest Editor, we draw on his insights as a furniture designer, artist and educator to look at the makers shaping our design world. Sustainability has never been more important, and increasingly this is a consideration from the start with projects designed to address their immediate environment as well as the longevity of the planet. From the coldest winters to the most tropical of summers, addressing how we live in the environment is crucial to creating the perfect home.

LiveLife Design Hunter Series is a unique conversation series that explores living in design, running as part of Sydney Indesign 2015, 13–15 August.


 

Tickets for the LiveLife Design Hunter Series are now on sale! LiveLife Design Hunter Series will span three topics including; ‘Art, design & architecture. The intersection of creativity’, ‘Longevity & Icons: Is the age of the icon over?’ and ‘Future of the Home: Models of living in the future’.

What is an ‘icon’?
What is the purpose in discussing them?
Why is it an important concept? Why not?
How does someone or something become an icon?
What happens when this occurs?
Why are we so obsessed with icons?
How does the concept of sustainability tie in with the concept of icons?

Future of the Home: Models of living in the future

How will we live in the future?
What are the concerns and considerations?
Why is the idea of community important and how do you create it or make the most of it?
How do we achieve a balance of community and privacy in communal living?
What direction will materials, finishes and colours take in future homes?
