Kitchen & Bathroom Issue

Kitchens and bathrooms are, arguably, the most consequential rooms in the home — and almost always the first to be considered. Whether approached through renovation or new build, their design has the power to recalibrate how a home is lived in and experienced. For this issue, our guest editor, Mardi Doherty, principal of Studio Doherty, explores what it truly means to transform these pivotal spaces — and why thoughtful design in kitchens and bathrooms delivers dividends far beyond the purely functional. Her insights both as an architect and as her own client give an open and honest account of the thinking behind creating a home.

Milan Review 2015 | Melbourne, Jardan

Last Tuesday night, in Sydney and Melbourne, we held our Indesign Milan Review – at Spence & Lyda in Sydney and Jardan in Melbourne. Here we look at the Melbourne discussion.

At the Melbourne review, held at Jardan, our panelists discussed their experiences at the fair, offering our audiences an engaging, interactive, and meaningful report.

The focus was on what Australian design + Architecture can take from the world’s biggest furniture fair – from aesthetic trends to commercial developments, which our panelists Narelle Cuthbert, of Plus Architecture; Leo Terrando, of SJB; and Celina Clarke, of ISM Objects – led by Alice Blackwood, Melbourne Editor, Indesign Media – discussed with conviction.

It was a great evening of discussion and opinion, and good company. Thanks again to Jardan for being such wonderful hosts
