The 'Future' Issue

Habitus #64 Welcome to the HABITUS ‘Future’ and ‘Habitus House of the Year’ Issue. We are thrilled to have interior designer of excellence, Brahman Perera, as Guest Editor and to celebrate his Sri Lankan heritage through an interview with Palinda Kannangara and his extraordinary Ek Onkar project – divine! Thinking about the future, we look at the technology shaping our approach to sustainability and the ways traditional materials are enjoying a new-found place in the spotlight. Profiles on Yvonne Todd, Amy Lawrance, and Kallie Blauhorn are rounded out with projects from Studio ZAWA, SJB, Spirit Level, STUDIOLIVE, Park + Associates and a Lake House made in just 40 days by the wonderful Wutopia Lab, plus the short list for the Habitus House of the Year!

ALMA SOFA SYSTEM

By PAD

Sometimes you just need to mellow out. And that’s exactly what you get with the Rolf Benz ALMA. At the very first glance, this sofa emanates a feeling of freedom, providing you with enormous potential to become your new favorite place. The graceful legs give the sofa the appearance of floating and the upholstery in the Comfort Lounge Deluxe also provide a weightless seating experience. An innovative back rest rounds off this experience of well-being and ensures soft, pillow-like reclining comfort thanks to the newly developed back. There are no limits when designing your own personal refuge: the modular Rolf Benz ALMA sofa range includes 2 seat heights and 3 foot designs, and consists of seating elements that all stand on 4 feet, ensuring flexible connections of the elements. In addition, visual gaps and other exciting compositions can be created due to adjustable coffee tables and backless upholstered benches. Leather straps secured with wooden buttons represent a stylistic highlight, which can encompass the sofa and be individually selected. You can choose between light grey leather straps with buttons in oak or anthracite leather straps with buttons in walnut. In the version without this detail, the Rolf Benz ALMA still wows with its extreme, simple elegance.
