Douglas Fir Lye Treated Brushed White Oil

By Mafi

Douglas Fir are impressive wide plank boards with a subtle appearance and a clear surface structure. Typical are few bony, well embedded knots of up to 60mm diameter and obvious signs of the annual growth rings. Douglas Fir allows isolated knot holes and cracks are possible and are closed with suitable wood putty.

Fir wood is ideal for rustic-style rooms and contemporary architecture. The raw material originates from Austria and is only felled in the winter months. During winter the tree ceases its growth for a short period, resulting in further robustness and stability in the wood.

Mafi floors stand out due to their longevity and robustness, and are 100% all-natural, free from harmful substances such as formaldehyde.

This hand crafted, engineered board consists of three-layers with the top and bottom made of the same species, ensuring perfect balance. The middle layer is conifer and runs across the grain for added strength. The layers are glued together with an all-natural glue of water, lime and plant acid.

This board comes pre-finished with a superior brushed textured surface and all-natural oil finish making it suitable for low to medium traffic areas, as well as over under floor heating and in bathrooms.

Each board comes with a micro bevel on the long side with tongue and groove on all sides for easy installation and to prevent splintering.

Fir features deep knots up to 6cm and the pronounced formation of annual rings. Cracks and knotholes up to 3cm are expected and are sealed with wood putty.
