The 'Future' Issue

Habitus #64 Welcome to the HABITUS ‘Future’ and ‘Habitus House of the Year’ Issue. We are thrilled to have interior designer of excellence, Brahman Perera, as Guest Editor and to celebrate his Sri Lankan heritage through an interview with Palinda Kannangara and his extraordinary Ek Onkar project – divine! Thinking about the future, we look at the technology shaping our approach to sustainability and the ways traditional materials are enjoying a new-found place in the spotlight. Profiles on Yvonne Todd, Amy Lawrance, and Kallie Blauhorn are rounded out with projects from Studio ZAWA, SJB, Spirit Level, STUDIOLIVE, Park + Associates and a Lake House made in just 40 days by the wonderful Wutopia Lab, plus the short list for the Habitus House of the Year!

External Venetian Blinds – Warema

By Shade Factor

Warema external venetian blinds from Shade Factor can reduce the heating effects of solar radiation by up to 90%, creating relaxing and comfortable interior spaces. External venetian blinds can admit reflected light, resulting in light-filled spaces and reducing the need for artificial lighting.

The tilted venetian slats allow building occupants to look outside through the slats while ensuring the preservation of privacy. When the light level drops, the external venetian blinds can automatically fully retract. The shallow curve of the blade surface perfectly complements the fine lines of modern architecture. Slat guidance is achieved using slimline extruded aluminium rails or coated stainless steel cables.

Warema blinds feature an extensive range of custom components to adapt blinds to any building application. They are offered in a broad range of colours and with many innovative features such as self-cleaning slats and silent motors. An extensive range of controls optimizes the shading and daylighting effects by tracking the sun and responding to other climate information.

Energy-saving external venetian blinds
High-quality engineered components
Preserves privacy while retaining sightlines
Multiple colours and features available

Warema’s external venetian blinds are accredited non-combustible under the NCC.  If you are working on a multi-residential project, in particular buildings higher than two levels, ask our expert team for a copy of the fire report, written by an Australian accredited fire testing laboratory.
