Kitchen & Bathroom Issue

Kitchens and bathrooms are, arguably, the most consequential rooms in the home — and almost always the first to be considered. Whether approached through renovation or new build, their design has the power to recalibrate how a home is lived in and experienced. For this issue, our guest editor, Mardi Doherty, principal of Studio Doherty, explores what it truly means to transform these pivotal spaces — and why thoughtful design in kitchens and bathrooms delivers dividends far beyond the purely functional. Her insights both as an architect and as her own client give an open and honest account of the thinking behind creating a home.

Light Up Orbit – Architectural LED Lighting

By iGuzzini

iGuzzini’s Light Up range of advanced, multifunctional LED luminaires is perfect for enhancing and illuminating both natural and architectural features and thoroughfares such as pathways and walkways. The versatile range can be recessed into the floor or ground, walls and ceilings.

Light Up Orbit is the latest addition to the range consisting of a stainless steel body and frame with no visible screws for a seamless finish.

The innovative design concept ensures the light source is extremely discrete so as not to detract from the look of a space. Equipped with Tunable White, the colour temperature can be easily adjusted to suit seasonal changes. The revolutionary tool-free rotation system means the fitting can be adjusted without being opened and exposed to external damage. Each luminaire has a static load resistance of 2,000 kg for resistance against vandalism and adverse weather conditions.
