Kitchen & Bathroom Issue

Kitchens and bathrooms are, arguably, the most consequential rooms in the home — and almost always the first to be considered. Whether approached through renovation or new build, their design has the power to recalibrate how a home is lived in and experienced. For this issue, our guest editor, Mardi Doherty, principal of Studio Doherty, explores what it truly means to transform these pivotal spaces — and why thoughtful design in kitchens and bathrooms delivers dividends far beyond the purely functional. Her insights both as an architect and as her own client give an open and honest account of the thinking behind creating a home.

markilux planet

By Blindmaster

markilux is one of the largest German brand name in awnings and for more than a quarter of a century now we have been making sure that life on the balcony and the patio is made even more enjoyable. We are bringing two sets of skills to this task: on the one hand our technical understanding of design engineering, and on the other a highly developed knowledge of textiles.

The markilux planet is a parasol and an awning in one. It’s an eye catcher that provides perfect shade to your outdoor area. The awning parasol protects you from solar radiation with exceptional reliability; it’s extremely sturdy, yet surprisingly mobile. With the easy to use lever in the flex version, you can simply rotate the awning to up to 335 degrees so you choose where you want the shade.

The markilux planet uses a cantilevered post which fixes to a concrete foundation.

The planet is available in two different versions, a fixed and a flex version. In the flex variant the planet can be rotated and turned however you want up to 335 degrees. Heaters and various other sensors make owning a markilux even more of a pleasure.

Rotate the planet by lifting up the easy go lever. Operation of the awning depends on the awning model fitted to the planet.
