Kitchen & Bathroom Issue

Kitchens and bathrooms are, arguably, the most consequential rooms in the home — and almost always the first to be considered. Whether approached through renovation or new build, their design has the power to recalibrate how a home is lived in and experienced. For this issue, our guest editor, Mardi Doherty, principal of Studio Doherty, explores what it truly means to transform these pivotal spaces — and why thoughtful design in kitchens and bathrooms delivers dividends far beyond the purely functional. Her insights both as an architect and as her own client give an open and honest account of the thinking behind creating a home.

COVER – by Patricia Urquiola

By Academy Tiles + Surfaces

Slip Ratings Available: P3

“Cover” is one of Patricia Urquiola’s first ventures with large porcelain slabs. The clay is blended with a mixture of micro-grit, which is used as a base for the patterns, and is applied using the silk-screen method. This method results in a more organic product, without the use of colour or digital applications. The decorative patterns available within the range are a mix of irregular, figurative and geometric patterns. The combination of the production techniques used, the patterns, and the research undertaken to arrive at this end product make “Cover” a truly unique product in the field of large porcelain slabs.

Cover is available in the nominal sizes 1200 x 2400mm, 1200 x 1200mm, and 300 x 1200mm with rectified edges.

*** ONLY AVAILABLE TO NSW BASED CUSTOMERS & SPECIFIERS.
