The Life Outside Issue

Introducing the Life Outside issue of Habitus magazine. With life increasingly being absorbed into a digital space, there is never a more important moment to hold something tangible. In this context, the power of nature to have a physiological impact on our sense of wellbeing has never been more important. So how can we cultivate the benefits of the our natural environment in the most intimate of places – our homes? This was the question that helped to bring this issue of Habitus to life.

A.P.C. opens in Sydney

Following the opening of the first A.P.C. store in Melbourne last year, this July sees the opening of the French ready-to-wear brand’s second store in Sydney.

Situated on Crown Street, Surry Hills, the Sydney A.P.C. (Atelier de Production et de Création) boutique is slightly hidden below street level, creating a unique subterranean perspective.

Thin cement panels gradually overlap and lead into the store to form the ceiling, inviting passersby inside. Two cement screens define the geometry of the space, and converge towards a high window at the back of the store, that provides another source of light. A tiered textile display is constructed beneath this window for seating and to display accessories.

Situated within the space are three plywood oak monoliths topped with glass structures that house the collections and allow shoppers to naturally traverse the space. The floor at every level is painted in khaki unifying the various elements.

The store will house the full men’s and women’s collections as well as the denim range, accessories and collaborations.
